About The Position

The Shelter Program Manager I manages CVAC emergency shelter services for persons experiencing homelessness, which includes a year-round housing first shelter program and a nightly inclement weather shelter program. The Shelter Program Manager oversees all staff and supporting functions. This includes supervising, monitoring, and evaluating program effectiveness, employee performance, dining services, shelter admissions, and case management. He/she monitors day-to-day program operations as well as the maintenance and cleanliness of buildings and grounds. Assists shelter residents to develop goal plans and secure permanent housing.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services or related field, AND
Two years of social services experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity, OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Responsibilities

Develops, implements, and evaluates Salvation Army services that enable persons experiencing homelessness to secure permanent housing and to maintain housing stability thereafter.
Leads a continuous improvement process to assess program outcomes, track quality indicators, and promote a positive resident experience. Identifies ways to strengthen program services and results.
Ensures scheduling of workers to maintain appropriate staff coverage for all shifts.
Supervises Caseworkers/Case Managers, Housing Managers, and Residential Aides.
