About The Position

Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) seeks applicants for a Community Engagement Manager to manage the barber and stylist experience across a multi-state community engagement program. Shape Up The Vote (SUTV) is a campaign to turn out the vote by activating barbershops and salons as voter engagement hubs in their communities. The Community Engagement Manager will ensure participating shops and leaders have a clear, consistent, and supportive experience—from first touch through follow-up—so they stay engaged, responsive, and set up for success during key campaign milestones. The Community Engagement Manager reports to the Digital Director and works closely with Community Organizers and Communication Support Specialists. The role focuses on supporting the team to build and maintain a strong pipeline of participating barbers/stylists, strengthening retention through clear communications and responsive support, and coordinating training and partner alignment so execution remains smooth during surge periods. Based on the final location, the role may include regular travel to shops and partner events (~1 day per week) to strengthen relationships, support activities, and gather on-the-ground insight. Unless located in one of the preferred states, this position is remote with a daily schedule based on time zone. As a full-time employee, you are eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays. There are no formal education requirements for this position. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Diverse applicants (particularly POC / Black womxn and allies) are highly encouraged to apply. If you are unsure if you meet the qualifications for this role but are still interested, applying is highly encouraged.
