The Department of Criminal Justice Services is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a full-time Sexual and Domestic Violence Standards & Response Coordinator in Richmond, Virginia. This position supports the work of the Victims Services section in the Division of Programs and Services. Requirements

  • Considerable demonstrated knowledge of crime victimization, especially of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Working knowledge of functions and operations of domestic and sexual violence programs, to include nonprofit organizations.
  • Documented experience with assessments, evaluations, audits, monitoring, or similar processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to schedule multiple on-site visits, conduct visits, and develop comprehensive findings/recommendations within a specific timeframe.
  • Documented experience working collaboratively as part of committees, task forces, and other teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound technical and programmatic assistance to sexual and domestic violence agencies or other criminal justice personnel.
  • Proven ability to compose narrative reports, policies, correspondence, and other resource materials.
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Documented experience working both independently and as an active and contributing team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • This position requires intermittent travel across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience developing training curricula and facilitating training.
  • Documented experience participating in and/or coordinating a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) or other anti-violence coordinated community response team.
  • Working knowledge of the Virginia Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act and of the criminal justice system in Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards through technical assistance, consultation, site visits, and training to sexual and domestic violence organizations.
  • Support program coordination efforts of the DCJS Professional Standards Operations Coordinator and the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards Committee.
  • Support the development and capacity of Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) across the Commonwealth through training, consultation, and resource development.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training events for the agency related to sexual assault investigations, prosecutions, and coordinated responses.
  • Provide virtual and in-person consultation to SARTs with the goal of increasing efficacy.
  • Create and distribute resources to support SARTs.
  • Staff and participate in collaborative partnerships including the SART state planning group and SART listserv.
