About The Position

As a Priority Set-up Tech II on our 3rd shift team, you will play a key role in keeping our Thermoforming operations running at peak performance. You will be responsible for accurate, efficient mold set-ups and start-ups, and for maintaining optimum daily performance, run efficiency, and repeatability of all Thermoformer and Extruder machinery, equipment, and tools. This is an hourly position with overtime and full benefits. As a Priority Set-up Tech II, you will support our thermoforming manufacturing operations by ensuring optimum daily performance, run efficiency, and repeatability of all Thermoformer and Extruder machinery, equipment, and tools used in the process. This is an hourly position with overtime.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Understands or has the ability to understand documented run parameters for new or existing department molds/materials.
  • Possesses technical skills and/or the aptitude to learn and apply the skills necessary for efficient processing, troubleshooting, and set-up of Thermoformer and Extruder equipment.
  • Ability to use basic computer systems to accurately complete daily transactions (e.g., production, quality, and material tracking systems).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment used in the Thermoforming manufacturing process.
  • Must be familiar with normal shop equipment and basic hand tools used for set-ups, adjustments, and minor mechanical tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic production and quality documentation, including First Article forms and run sheets.
  • Ability to mentor and train other team members on set-up procedures, quality checks, and safe operating practices.
  • Must be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, priority-driven environment.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve processing problems, monitor scrap, and make appropriate process changes.
  • Successful completion of any job-related training and certification requirements as assigned by the company.
  • One or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • 2-year Technical Degree desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all Set-up Tech I responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete accurate mold set-ups, changeovers, and machine start-ups to maximize machine output and utilization.
  • Monitor part quality throughout production runs and complete First Article forms.
  • Manage the material system, including coordinating silo changes to ensure continuous production.
  • Monitor mechanical and processing systems for proper operation and make necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve processing problems as they arise to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Track and monitor scrap, making process changes as needed to meet department KPIs.
  • Execute and monitor production plans and activities based on the schedule of priorities.
  • Coordinate activities with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Accurately complete daily system transactions within AS400 and Mattec systems.
  • Participate in packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly activities as needed to support production.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability, to meet department needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report equipment or safety concerns.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area.
  • Train other employees on job functions as necessary and support cross-training within the department.
  • Demonstrate and promote company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service) and a strong team mindset.
  • Understand and support department key performance indicators, contributing to their achievement individually and as a team.
  • Take ownership of work and behavior, communicate status of work and projects, and actively contribute to problem-solving.

  • Perform other duties as needed or required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the Set-Up Tech I role.
  • Perform accurate and efficient mold set-ups and machine start-ups to maximize machine output and utilization.
  • Monitor part quality during production and complete First Article forms to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Manage the material system, including coordinating silo changes and material flow to the production floor.
  • Monitor mechanical and processing systems for proper operation and make adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve processing problems as they arise to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Monitor scrap levels and make necessary process changes to meet department KPIs and quality standards.
  • Execute and monitor production plans and activities based on the established schedule of priorities.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments (such as maintenance, quality, and production) to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Accurately complete daily system transactions within AS400 and Mattec systems.
  • Participate in packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly activities as required to support production.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability, to meet departmental and organizational needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report equipment issues or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Perform effectively as a team member, work well with others, give and receive feedback, and treat everyone with respect.
  • Take ownership of work and behavior, accept accountability, communicate status of work/projects, and encourage solutions.
  • Follow all department quality standards and criteria, raising concerns and issues to the immediate manager.

  • Perform other duties as needed or required, including working overtime and remaining flexible to schedule changes based on business needs.
