About The Position

BEST Logistics Group is excited to start our search for a Service Writer to join our Fleet Maintenance Team! This new role will be based out of our Kernersville, NC shop operation, reporting directly to our Director of Fleet Maintenance. Regular office hours for this position will be 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday. Pay is negotiable, depending on experience, within a range of $23 - $25 per hour. Key Responsibilities: Operate within the goals set by the Director of Fleet Maintenance for the department. He/she must work with the other department leadership and teammates to strive to grow the department and make whatever decisions necessary to maintain a profitable service department. Schedule work into the shop via telephone and direct contact with drivers and Operations, record the condition of the equipment, and complete write ups indicating the type of work needed based on initial intake and evaluation. Interact with drivers, fleet operations, and vendors as dictated by day to day work-flow. This includes reaching out to fleet operators to set-up work on equipment and handling issues as they arise. Consult with the shop leads on duty regarding the proper assignment of repair orders based on qualifications, training, and ability. Make recommendations and provide input to the Director of Fleet Maintenance and/or shift leads regarding open work orders, completion goals, or necessary follow-ups Focus on the expectations of fleet operations per their needs, predict and prevent potential problem situations, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved customer satisfaction Review parts that are ordered in and schedule the trucks in to have the parts installed as needed Review and close repair orders daily. Maintain a professional working relationship with all other managers and departments you’ll interface with daily. Participate in training as directed by the Director of Fleet Maintenance. Participate in the department reach its monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and objectives All other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Job requirements This person will collaborate heavily with our Director of Fleet Maintenance, Parts and Warranty, our Shift Leads, and technicians. We need someone that has excellent customer service experience, a positive attitude, who is a self-starter, and fluid communicator. We are looking for someone who is adaptable to learning different technology, tools, and software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Dossier, McLeod TMS, and other systems as needed) needed as a part of successfully handling the day-to-day needs in this role.
