Comprehensive Benefits Package: Medical insurance upon hire Minimum 10 vacation days and 5 sick days upon hire 401(k) plan with match and profit-sharing distribution 7 company paid holidays Ongoing technical and professional training Position Overview: The Service Writer plays a key role in supporting the Crane & Lifting service department by coordinating service work orders, communicating with customers and technicians, and maintaining accurate service documentation. This role works closely with the Service Manager, technicians, parts staff, and customers to help ensure crane and heavy equipment repairs are completed efficiently and accurately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a service writer, service coordinator, or administrative role preferred
  • Experience in heavy equipment, crane service, trucking, construction, or diesel repair environments is strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong clerical and computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment
  • Familiarity with service management or dealership software systems is a plus (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Service Coordination & Work Order Management Open, track, and close repair work orders
  • Post technician labor hours and outside material purchases to work orders
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and departmental control logs
  • Assist the Service Manager in coordinating service workflow and repair timelines
  • Customer & Supplier Communication Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding repair status and updates
  • Communicate with technicians and suppliers to ensure timely completion of service work
  • Provide clear and professional communication regarding service estimates and completion schedules
  • Administrative & Operational Support Prepare service-related correspondence and reports as directed by the Service Manager
  • Maintain timecards and attendance records for the service team
  • Assist with regulatory documentation and reporting requirements
  • Support daily administrative needs of the service department
