About The Position

The Service Shop Repair Technician completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. The role complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. This position involves performing minor to intermediate inspections, repairs, and replacements on all Walmart equipment, including trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, and service vehicles. This includes diagnostics, identifying parts, consulting, and conducting repairs following company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. The technician also receives fuel drops and conducts fuel sampling, and correctly identifies and performs warrantable repairs. Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor to intermediate inspections repairs and replacements following company guidelines on all Walmart equipment for exampletrailers tractors yard trucks shop equipment service vehicles.
  • Creates and processes work orders.
  • Performs minor diagnostics with technical and electronic equipment on the various Walmart equipment for example tractor engine components electronics drive trains minor HVAC.
  • Assesses maintenance repair and replacement needs.
  • Identifies needed parts and possible solutions.
  • Consults with others and selects the best possible solution.
  • Conducts repairs and replacements for example repair drivetrain components repairing and replacing communication equipment and onboard technology tractor and minor trailer diagnstics of HVAC systems following company and Department of Transportation DOT guidelines and requirements.
  • Communicates with individuals or groups for example customers suppliers associates verbally and in writing.
  • Receive fuel drops and conduct fuel sampling by monitoring the drop to ensure safety compliance following procedures for fuel additives monitoring tank levels before and after the drop collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis and shipping and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Correctly identifies and performs warrantable repairs by entering accurate information on the condition cause and correction into the maintenance system.
  • Completes warranty tags as needed and ensuring parts are retained according to warranty guidelines.
  • Creates and processes warranty claims to ensure proper credit is received according to company guidelines.
