About The Position

The Service Lane Vehicle Buyer is responsible for growing used vehicle inventory by engaging current service customers and identifying opportunities to purchase vehicles directly from owners while they are in the service drive. This role focuses on building rapport with guests already visiting the dealership for service, starting natural conversations about vehicle value and selling options, and guiding customers through the appraisal and purchase process. This is an on-site, customer-facing acquisition role that partners closely with the service department and used car management.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role such as sales, BDC, service advisor, receptionist, or dealership support
  • Strong ability to engage customers in person, build rapport quickly, and communicate clearly and professionally
  • Confident and persuasive communicator, both face-to-face and over the phone
  • Highly motivated, persistent, and organized with follow-up and appointment management
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and digital tools to track activity and outcomes
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including background check, drug test, and MVR

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive purchasing, appraisal, or used vehicle acquisition experience
  • Experience working in a service drive or high-volume customer traffic environment

Responsibilities

  • Engage service drive customers during their visit to introduce vehicle buying opportunities
  • Start natural, professional conversations with service guests about vehicle value, trade-in options, and selling directly to the dealership
  • Follow up with service customers by phone, text, and email to schedule appraisal appointments
  • Collect vehicle details through customer conversations, photos, inspections, and data entry into inventory systems
  • Partner with Sales Managers to review appraisals and present fair, competitive purchase offers
  • Coordinate smooth hand-offs for customers interested in purchasing another vehicle after selling
  • Maintain accurate CRM notes, customer statuses, and follow-up activity
  • Work closely with service advisors and lane leadership to maximize acquisition opportunities
  • Review monthly acquisition goals with management and adjust daily activity to drive results
