About The Position

The Server at Urban Pour is responsible for delivering an elevated, personalized dining experience that reflects the vibrant, local spirit of Austin and the boutique identity of Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown – University. This role serves as the primary point of contact for guests in the restaurant, ensuring attentive, efficient, and engaging service while maintaining brand and service standards. Servers are expected to create memorable guest experiences through strong menu knowledge, genuine hospitality, and the ability to anticipate guest needs in a fast-paced, social dining environment. Core responsibilities include greeting guests, taking and delivering orders accurately, and providing service aligned with established standards.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced setting
  • Knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • TABC and Food Handler certifications (or ability to obtain)
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Can communicate well with guests
  • Adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones
  • Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something

Nice To Haves

  • Previous serving experience in a restaurant, hotel, or bar environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly with a warm, engaging, and professional demeanor
  • Present menus, provide detailed knowledge of food, beverage, and local offerings
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system
  • Deliver food and drinks in a timely and polished manner
  • Anticipate guest needs and ensure satisfaction throughout the dining experience
  • Perform side work and station setup/closing duties as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas and service stations
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate when necessary
  • Process payments accurately and follow cash-handling procedures
  • Be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player
  • Adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns
