About The Position

The agency is a results-driven, employee-owned marketing agency headquartered in Rochester, NY, seeking 2–3 freelance SEO Website Copy Editors for a short-term contract engagement. This role is critical to supporting an upcoming website content initiative with a hard deadline of March 31 . Rosies will work closely with the internal SEO team to review, compare, and refine website copy to ensure consistency, accuracy, and search optimization across key pages. Engagement Type: Contract / Freelance Duration: 30 Days (ASAP through March 31, 2025) Hours/Week: 30–40 Hours per Week Headcount: 2–3 Individuals Hourly Rate: $50/Hour Location: Remote Experience Level: Junior to Mid-Level The SEO Website Copy Editor will support the agency's SEO team by proofreading existing web copy, comparing two versions of page content, and making light editorial edits to combine or reconcile those versions into a single, polished final draft. This is primarily an editing and quality assurance role; no content strategy or deep technical SEO experience is required.

Requirements

  • Strong written English skills with a keen eye for detail and editorial precision.
  • Ability to compare and merge two documents or copy sets with accuracy and speed.
  • Comfortable working with website copy in a CMS or document-based workflow (Google Docs, Word, or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
  • Availability to commit 30–40 hours per week for the full 30-day engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic SEO principles (keyword usage, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy).
  • Prior experience in a marketing agency, content, or editorial environment.
  • Experience working within a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Review and proofread website copy for grammar, punctuation, spelling, clarity, and consistency.
  • Compare two sets of web page copy (e.g., legacy content vs. revised content) and identify key differences.
  • Combine and reconcile copy from multiple sources into a single cohesive version per the SEO team’s guidelines.
  • Make light edits to improve readability and tone while preserving SEO intent and keyword placement.
  • Flag inconsistencies, conflicting information, or unclear passages for internal team review.
  • Work efficiently across a high volume of pages to meet the March 31 project deadline.
  • Communicate progress updates and questions to the project lead in a timely manner.
