About The Position

Assigns duties and supervises crews in the maintenance of various athletic facilities. Oversees work in progress and provides instruction and directives to work crews. Supervisory Responsibility Integral to the position of Senior Work Leader is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining.

Requirements

  • Skills in planning, organizing, and directing crews, operation of trucks, tractors, mowers, bobcat, boom truck and other equipment used in athletic facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of general park maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with subordinates and the general public.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must attend a work release supervisor training class annually.
  • Three or more years of prior experience required to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Working knowledge and operation of computers, iPad, and other electronic devices.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) required or must have ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the mowing, trimming and general maintenance of Athletic Facilities throughout the park system.
  • Oversees and assists work in progress.
  • Provides instructions regarding work methods.
  • Discusses daily assignments with Superintendent of Parks and assigns and schedules work and duties of designated crews.
  • Assists, collaborates with supervisors on special city sponsored events and projects.
  • Remains on call during various city sponsored events involving the athletic facilities.
  • Oversees, inspects, allocates, trains employees on operation of equipment for various projects to ensure proper safety and usage is maintained.
  • Assists in evaluating and disciplines employees.
  • Specifically oversees the maintenance and care of Heritage Park and all its components.
  • Maintains inventory and orders supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Answers concerns and requests from general public on athletic facilities.
  • Cooperates with other departments on special projects.
  • May be required to work with or supervising of inmates.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
