About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Water Engineer Group Lead to join our Atlanta, GA office. This role will supervise other engineering staff and support projects and tasks related to water and wastewater infrastructure planning and design, primarily for municipal water authorities. This role will manage design tasks on large, inter‑disciplinary projects and be project manager for local projects/studies. There are also opportunities to provide program management services to key clients. This role is structured to leverage seller‑doer strengths while positioning for expanded leadership, as AtkinsRéalis continues building one of the strongest, most forward‑leaning water practices in the region. Your role Help shape, win, and deliver the next generation of water and water infrastructure projects across Georgia and the Southeast. Cultivate and sustain relationships with priority clients across Georgia and neighboring states, Maintain a hands-on role in project execution while leading multidisciplinary teams delivering water infrastructure projects. Contribute to the ongoing development of our Water Hub structure, including hub strategy planning and delivery Lead and mentor junior engineers in the development of design concepts. Coordinate with clients and stakeholders. Coordinate with other disciplines. Plan and review the production of engineering investigations, models, planning work, reports, drawings and specifications. Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost‑effective solution. Analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devise new approaches and alternative solutions. Analyze project dimension and scope, and prepare or oversee the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets. Coordinate work with other project and task managers, guides others on drafting and design of preliminary and final plans, guides others on water infrastructure planning and engineering and preparation of studies/reports. Provide quality control and maintain quality standards, check work performed by others. Manage projects. Perform other duties as necessary. Upholding engineering ethics and professional standards of conduct.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with minimum 11 years of experience since B.S., 10 years’ experience since M.S.
  • The typical incumbent has minimum 15 to 25 years’ experience since Bachelor's degree, with at least three of these years in positions with project management or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills, technical writing capabilities and well-developed communication and presentation skills are a requirement.
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office are required.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure in Georgia, or in another state with reciprocity possible to Georgia in 6 month period.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience in a related field is desirable.
  • Experience with Autodesk design packages (e.g. Civil3D) a plus.
  • Excellent Water and / or wastewater design skills and experience, and water treatment process knowledge a plus.
