About The Position

Stacy Witbeck is seeking a Lead Estimator for our Water Group based in our Long Beach, CA office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare cost estimates for both bid-build and alternative delivery projects (CMGC, CMAR, PDB) utilizing estimating software (currently HCSS) and analyzing production rates and schedules. Manage overall estimate while performing take-offs and estimating specifics scopes as described below. Perform Take-Off efforts for assigned portions of the estimate with a focus on mechanical and process piping and direct Take-off efforts for other scopes of work. Actively participate in strategy meetings on project approach, schedule, and strategy. Prepare an Estimate Specific guideline for all of the required items that must be performed during the preparation of the estimate and submittal of a bid. Lead discussions on scope, access, risk coordination with other disciplines. Participate in overall project strategy and risk discussions. Present assigned portion of estimate in the In-House Review and, if applicable, the Joint Venture Review. This includes scope overview, key considerations/risk, schedule and general approach. Close-Out (prepare plug or self-performed vs. actual quoted price comparisons), or direct close-out of, assigned portions of the work. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Please note--Requirements are essential, but preferences have flexibility.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience (bid-build and alternative delivery) estimating primarily water/wastewater treatment and plant scopes of work with an overall understanding of the associated processes involved in various treatment methods/systems
  • Must be proficient in estimating mechanical and structural elements for water and wastewater treatment projects. This includes advanced water treatment systems (UV, RO, MBR, etc.)
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree (preferred) or alternative field exposure/experience will be considered in place of a degree
  • Knowledge of plan reading and interpretation, take-off, MS-Excel software, construction means, methods, and productions, scheduling, and common sense are a must
  • Experience with field responsibilities on heavy/civil construction projects
  • Manage estimating teams including junior level estimators
  • Must be able to navigate uneven terrain for pre-bid site investigations
  • Travel is required
  • Valid driver's license required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MS-Word, P-6 Scheduling, MS-PowerPoint, Agtek, Bluebeam, and/or HCSS software are pluses
