About The Position

The Senior Vice President of Operations (SVP) is responsible for effectively setting strategy, goals and objectives for B.HOM and all of its properties and internal support teams. This position will assist the COO and/or other leadership with special projects as needed. Exhibits strong commitment to the service needs of the internal and external customer. Represents the company in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management or similar
  • 7+ years’ experience with student property management operations
  • 2 years’ experience with leading other leaders/people managers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change
  • Exceptional professional communication skills
  • Strong ability to build and motivate teams
  • Strong organizational & prioritization skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the development and execution of the company’s strategy, including growth initiatives, operational innovation, and market expansion. Proactively address the complexities involved being located throughout multiple states and locations, including standardizing property procedures, providing back-up support, assuring internal controls, and establishing support systems while encouraging individual, team and company achievement and accomplishments and reflecting local, state, and federal laws and requirements.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, develops, and leads a team of Area VPs/Regional Managers in accordance with company policies, procedures, and directives; conducts performance evaluations on supervised employees.
  • Conducts regular review of portfolio performance with AVP and RMs to ensure success of each asset, which includes, but not limited to; regularly monitoring service level standards, B.HOM Benchmarks and KPIs, to ensure optimal performance results and identify red flag properties; propose recommendations for improvements and monitoring progress toward established goals and objectives; implement strategies that will enhance overall performance and profitability.
  • Maintains an awareness and understanding of the goals of the Company and works to enhance its overall image and presence in the market; remains current on local, state, and federal issues; recommends and develops policies/procedures to align with the organization’s strategic direction / strategic direction with acquisitions and disposition of properties.
  • Partners cross-functionally with departments including Sales & Marketing, HR, Legal, IT, and Facilities to ensure alignment of operational goals with company-wide objectives.
  • Leads enterprise-wide initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, resident satisfaction, and technological innovation, including the evaluation and implementation of prop tech solutions.
  • Oversees risk management and compliance programs, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of operational, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Champions a culture of performance, accountability, and inclusion, driving leadership development, succession planning, and employee engagement across the organization.
  • Champion a resident-first culture by implementing service standards that prioritize responsiveness, community engagement, and overall satisfaction.
  • Monitor and analyze resident feedback across platforms (e.g., Google Reviews, social media, internal surveys) to identify trends, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Marketing and Operations to manage the company’s online reputation, ensuring timely and professional responses to reviews and public feedback.
