About The Position

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products. You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools. As a Mixed Methods UX Researcher (UXR), you’ll use various methods to understand users and provide data-driven recommendations to improve user experience. To do that, we need to solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure, while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience that people around the world rely on. In joining the Search team, you'll have an opportunity to make an impact on billions of people globally. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods, including usability testing, log analysis, and surveys.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 3 years of experience managing projects, and working in a cross-functional organization.
  • Experience in a variety of product spaces, applied research, or academic settings.
  • Proficiency in communicating user research findings with cross-functional partners to drive impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a collaborative and user-centric team that is hungry for insights, data, and storytelling as tools to move the Google experience forward.
  • Partner with UXRs to conduct foundational, and iterative research.
  • Own your qualitative and quantitative UXR roadmap for our project areas with horizontal and vertical impact.
  • Work with stakeholders to formulate research questions and impact product strategy and design through research/analyses.
  • Create scalable frameworks to better understand our users and their needs, stated and unstated, for your product team by visualizing user data.
  • Develop insights will help create useful, usable, and delightful new products and features for Googlers and continually innovate on our existing products.
