About The Position

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join our rapidly growing Design org. You will help shape the future of the Fivetran data pipeline platform for businesses large and small. Our ideal candidate has a balance of research rigor and business focus. We value those that hit the ground running, leading by example on projects and collaborating well cross-functionally. You will be diving deep into the daily lives of our customers and applying that understanding to everyday product design decisions. As you talk with our team, your portfolio should contain case studies that demonstrate strong storytelling skills, use of effective research methodologies, and clear results of your previous work. This is a full-time position based in our Oakland, CA office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team

Requirements

  • A strong experience with mixed method qualitative and quantitative research.
  • A strong portfolio featuring examples of your work, your research philosophy, and the outcomes/results.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated with a bias toward action – there’s tons of greenfield opportunity here, and you’ll need to lean into the ambiguity and lead projects to completion.
  • Ability to craft engaging presentations with engrossing stories that influence your peer stakeholders.
  • A strong desire to learn about our user and how our product impacts their success.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with various survey methods, analysis, visualizations and relevant data tools like SQL.
  • Experience in the data industry

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and execute on user research programs across focused product areas
  • Collaborate with design, product, and analytics to build research projects that align with stakeholder needs as well as user needs.
  • Guide product and design on the research methodology, question framing, and other best practices for self run studies.
  • Identify emerging customer and user needs to support the development of new products.
  • Synthesize learnings from past research and analytics data to determine to tell compelling stories and lead ideation sessions.
