About The Position

The company's Water Business Group focuses on managing water for future generations, including safe drinking water, wastewater treatment, sustainable water supplies, and flood control, directly supporting public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Advisor to join their collaborative team in Central Texas on a part-time basis. This role primarily involves assisting senior managers with permit applications, strategic permitting approaches, compliance documentation, supporting studies, and managing the permit application process for major infrastructure projects, mainly in Texas. The Senior Technical Advisor will also prepare for and participate in regulatory agency meetings, public meetings/hearings, and client/agency coordination. Projects may encompass water and sewer infrastructure, solid waste, and energy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years technical and/or field experience in complex environmental planning projects
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Technical and/or field experience dealing with environmental impact issues, associated permit processes and documentation preparation/review
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Environmental Science, Planning or related field
  • MS desirable
  • 6+ years of experience in environmental permitting projects
  • Demonstrated and broad-based knowledge of TCEQ regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with permitting issues associated with a broad range of environmental permits
  • Permit experience in Texas
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing multidisciplinary teams and developing documents for a wide range of infrastructure projects
  • Proven track record in large and small projects
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Self-starter with excellent bilingual writing and communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and project management abilities
