About The Position

This position description is for a Senior Systems Administrator role within Technica Corporation, contingent on a contract award for the Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) project. The role involves managing and supporting the design, implementation, integration, hardening, deployment, and sustainment of a modernized compute, storage, network, and management application environment for a U.S. Government project. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining a secure, resilient, and highly available IT stack that supports network operations, providing hands-on support for various IT infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in DoD systems administration, platform hardening, patching, troubleshooting, operational support, and sustainment in highly secure and mission-critical environments. Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Must have either a technical certification or training provided within DoD 8140/DCWF: SecurityX / CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, Cloud+, FITSP-O, GFACT, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP
  • Understanding of general system interoperability in a LAN/WAN Environment
  • Experience operating in secure enterprise or government IT environments
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise environments involving servers, operating systems, virtualization, storage, and systems management platforms
  • Specific skillsets: Windows OS, UNIX OS, Vulnerability Management, Identity Credential, and Access Management (ICAM), SmartCard authentication using Public-Key Infrastructure, Active Directory, and major databases
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communications skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ITIL Foundation or equivalent IAT Level II certification
  • Experience in Air Force or DoD environments
  • Experience supporting continuity of operations, failover testing, and disaster recovery
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Ansible
  • Experience supporting system accreditation, test, and turnover in government environments

Responsibilities

  • Provide installation, configuration, integration, and hardening of physical and virtual hosting infrastructure, storage, and applications to operate and manage network environments.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and sustain physical and virtual server environments in accordance with program requirements and operational schedules.
  • Provide system administration support for our Network Integration Lab, Integration Test Facility, and Network Operations Centers.
  • Support account management, access control, system auditing, and secure administrative practices.
  • Perform system hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs, RMF requirements, cybersecurity policies, and vendor best practices.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance, capacity, and fault conditions across supported systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues involving servers, operating systems, virtualization platforms, storage, backups, and management tools.
  • Establish backups and monitor site security.
  • Support system integration activities with network, cybersecurity, storage, and management toolsets.
  • Maintain system configurations, baselines, inventories, and operational documentation, including SOPs, as-built records, maintenance procedures, and recovery guides.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for infrastructure-related outages or degradations.
  • Coordinate with engineers, cybersecurity staff, network administrators, and program leadership to support secure and reliable operations.
  • Provide administrator-level support during deployment events, maintenance windows, and sustainment operations.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance on best practices for systems administration and operational support.
