About The Position

The Senior Syndications Origination Officer is responsible for originating, structuring, and leading syndicated loan transactions for our clients across corporate, middle market, sponsor-backed, and specialty segments. The role drives new production, fee income, and relationship growth by serving as lead arranger or co-arranger, coordinating underwriting, documentation, distribution, and closing in partnership with internal associates and external lending partners. This position serves market-facing and internal product partner roles, cultivating client relationships and ensuring successful syndication outcomes aligned with the bank’s risk appetite, returns, and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of commercial/corporate or capital markets experience including 5+ years of loan syndications experience that included client and bank group presentations. Equivalent education can be substituted for some of the years of experience.
  • Deep knowledge of loan market practices, credit documentation, covenant frameworks, intercreditor and collateral structures.
  • Strong financial modeling and structuring skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM and deal management tools.
  • Established relationships with middle market lenders; proven ability to run competitive processes and close complex deals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presence; ability to influence across internal stakeholders and external counterparties.

Responsibilities

  • Support origination activities in collaboration with Relationship Managers and product partners.
  • Lead client dialogue on financing alternatives, terms, structures, and market conditions; prepare and deliver proposals, term sheets, and pitch materials.
  • Lead-arrange or co-arrange transactions: structure facilities, set pricing, covenants, collateral packages, and intercreditor frameworks based on credit profile and market appetite.
  • Oversee model development and deal analytics (cash flow, leverage, sensitivity cases, covenant capacity, returns, and capital usage).
  • Coordinate internal deal teams across relationship banking, credit, syndications, loan operations, and legal.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidance and adherence to risk appetite and return thresholds.
  • Partner with the relationship team to craft the syndication strategy, lender list, and investor messaging.
  • Lead lender meetings; oversee information memorandum and diligence Q&A; manage allocations and closing documentation.
  • Maintain post-close engagement on amendments, waivers, market flex, and ongoing agency matters.
  • Identify and deliver cross-sell opportunities (treasury management, FX, interest rate derivatives, trade & supply chain finance, and other capital solutions) in partnership with product partners.
  • Monitor portfolio trends, early warning indicators, and market shifts; recommend proactive actions.
  • Maintain active lender and sponsor relationships; represent the bank at industry events and conferences.
  • Mentor junior associates and help build origination discipline, credit acumen, and execution standards.
  • Contribute to pricing frameworks, market updates, and best practices for syndicated finance.
  • Participate in other projects and business development functions as may be assigned by the group head.
