About The Position

In the Center for Academic Support (CAS), Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically challenging courses. SI is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades. SI Leaders are students who have previously done well in the course and who plan and facilitate these review sessions each week. Senior SI leaders will not only provide supplemental instruction for their course, but they will also assist in supporting other SI leaders and the SI supervisor. This position is for Spring 2026 semester.

Requirements

• MWSU Student
• Degree Seeking
• Enrolled in a minimum of 6 Credit Hours
• May need to qualify for federal work study financial aid assistance
• Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above
• Prior completion of the selected course with an A or B is required
• Content-competency, as determined by recommendation from course faculty member
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as determined by SI Supervisor
• Must be a current SI Leader with at least one semester of SI experience and excellent work history
• Must have a strong grasp of facilitating effective SI sessions and show a proficiency in peer operations and mentoring new SI Leaders
• Strong organizational and administrative skills

• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills as it relates to interaction with students, faculty, staff and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary student leader/mentor for the SI team
• Lead SI for assigned course
• Observe each SI Leader at least once per semester and hold a one-on-one discussion afterward
• Meet with SI supervisor once per week
• Facilitate a portion of SI team meetings
• Facilitate a portion of SI training and assist with promoting and scheduling SI sessions at the beginning of the semester
• Hold additional office hours for SI mentoring, program research, inputting offsite sessions into TracCloud, and other administrative duties as assigned by SI Supervisor
