Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design & development of large aerospace structures
  • Knowledge in material selection , compatibility, and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software
  • Comprehension of classical stress analysis methods
  • Familiar with application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and variation analysis
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Proven track-record of managing projects to meet schedule, budget, and technical performance metrics

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to apply structural mechanics principles and develop designs using hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
  • Expertise with analysis codes: Nastran, ANSYS, Optistruct , LS/Dyna, Abaqus
  • Knowledgeable in metallic and composite design and analysis considerations
  • Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices, manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, and quality control
  • Experience with Optimization and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and testing
  • Experienced with fabrication of composite primary structures for aerospace
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products
  • Proven experience developing manufacturing processes for transition to production

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of structural and mechanical subsystems throughout the entire design cycle, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, structural analysis, development testing and qualification
  • Generate 3-D models, component drawings, assembly drawings, and interface control documents
  • Create documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardware
  • Participate in subsystem level testing including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
  • Develop component specifications and manage suppliers
  • Coordinate and oversee manufacturing and production activities
  • Facilitate the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce world class aerospace hardware
  • Lead design reviews and technical gate reviews
  • Mentor junior engineers in structural design principles and best practices
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex structural challenges
  • Ensure designs meet all requirements for performance, safety, and reliability
