Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Structural Design Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. The position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to the 4/10-1st Shift, (Mon-Thu) or (Tues-Fri) - 10 hours/day schedule. . Roles and responsibilities: Develop “Design for Producibility” solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives. Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions. Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives. Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness. Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications. Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation. This position can be filled by an Engineer (T2/T3) level.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 0 years of related experience
  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Experience in the design of bonded composite primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • High level of proficiency using Unigraphics Nx or CATIA V5 in the development of aircraft structures and components.

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs
  • Experience working on military aircraft
