About The Position

Washington University is seeking an advancement professional to join University Advancement as a Senior Stewardship Officer for Arts & Sciences. University Advancement aims to foster a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends to advance the institution's mission. With the upcoming 2025 public launch of the With You Campaign, WashU is dedicated to finding solutions for global challenges. Arts & Sciences is crucial to this campaign, driving new discoveries through interdisciplinary studies, impactful collaborations, and developing future leaders. The Senior Stewardship Officer will report to the Executive Director for Advancement, Arts & Sciences, and will be the subject matter expert for stewardship activities within the school. Working alongside the team's Stewardship Officer, this role is vital for ensuring long-term donor satisfaction and maximizing the impact of donor contributions. The incumbent will collaborate with leadership to acknowledge donors and create both standard and highly-curated impact reports. They will also work with Donor Relations and the Arts & Sciences Stewardship Officer to provide comprehensive scholarship and professorship reporting to Arts & Sciences donors. A key responsibility will be leading fund administration management. This position demands strong relationship, analytical, and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of donor engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of successful collaborations across various departments, divisions, or Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Arts and Sciences Stewardship Activities & Impact Reporting
  • Act as a subject matter expert on stewardship for the School and ensure Arts & Sciences donors are recognized for their giving
  • Manage Professorship installations and other donor recognition events, in coordination with Special Events
  • Act as the relationship manager for Arts & Sciences prospects in permanent stewardship
  • Occasionally, serve on a relationship management team for Arts & Sciences prospects who require specific stewardship plans and are not managed by a Donor Relations Officer
  • Produce or support impact reports on Arts & Sciences funds by managing stewardship reporting on the Dean’s top funding priorities, researching giving history and collecting impact data from beneficiaries, drafting content and producing final reports, and supporting Donor Relations Officers and/or school colleagues by providing content and review
  • Ensure Fund Impact Reporting and Scholarship Stewardship in partnership with Donor Relations and the team’s Stewardship Officer
  • Oversee named graduate and undergraduate scholarship matching and stewardship for Arts & Sciences, in collaboration with Donor Relations, including surveying and matching students to named scholarships, preparing student snapshots and scholarship profiles, and responding to inquiries on scholarships from colleagues, donors, students, and parents
  • Support Fund Administration in partnership with the Executive Director of Advancement for Arts & Sciences, including coordination between Donor Relations and the School’s Finance Office, reviewing accounts to identify funds that should be addressed with the Executive Director, upkeep records for awarded scholarships and professorships in the CRM, and tracking unspent fund accounts to develop plans to notify key stakeholders and remedy the situation
  • Support Team Operations, including the development of budgets for unit activity and the creation and implementation of annual operational plans (events calendar, communication calendar, OKRs, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and departments to gather information and project updates for donor communication and stewardship purposes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
