DLZ Corporation currently has a new opportunity for a motivated Staff Accountant at our corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4 - 6 years relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with various regulatory audits (financial, overhead rate)
  • Experience in taxes (federal, state and local income taxes, sales and use tax , unclaimed funds)
  • Must be flexible, have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Accounting Coordinator and Director of Finance with various accounting functions.
  • Monthly closing process, to include corporate journal entries and general ledger review.
  • Monthly reporting process, including generating reports for management.
  • Assist with various audit workpapers and issues.
  • Assist and provide information for tax preparation.
  • Back up for certain accounting functions.
  • Manage and record daily bank activity.
  • Complete monthly closing journal entries.
  • Review general ledger monthly.
  • Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting package for Executive Management meetings.
  • Review employee expense reports for proper coding. Verify correct backup documentation is provided (receipts).
  • Review time sheets on a weekly basis. Ensure all time sheets have been received and processed.
  • Code payables to proper department/division, account number, and correct accounting period.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations monthly.
  • Summarize and analyze financial information for potential acquisitions.
  • Update fixed assets and record depreciation.
  • Assist with the other special project as needed.
