About The Position

Comtech is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant who will be responsible for management of all division accounting-related functions for the Space & Component Technology (SCT) division. The Senior Staff Accountant will support the financial accounting operations of the company, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, government contracting requirements, and internal controls. This role is responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledger accuracy, and supporting audits while partnering with leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Oracle) strongly preferred Deltek Costpoint 8 with proficiency with Cognos reports.
  • Strong Excel capabilities.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition and project accounting within aerospace/defense/SATCOM environments.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations, compliance standards, and audit practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-compliance industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting operations, including generating and posting journal entries, cash receipts, revenue journals, cost of goods journals, and inventory journals.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, SOX, ASC 606, ASC 842 and company policies.
  • Manage SCT’s Balance sheet, assuring that all accounts are reconciled, analyzed and accurately maintained on a timely basis
  • Support tracking of company’s fixed assets and recording depreciation.
  • Involvement with Accounts Payable process with a focus on our international Division.
  • Prepare and finalize the weekly and monthly cash forecast for the division.
  • Support month-end, quarterly year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial information.
  • Support external and internal audits, tax filing requests, and regulatory body inquiries.
