About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Public Health will (1) provide day-to-day management of communications and media engagement related to the Public Health portfolio. (2) Coordinate conferences and material distribution for the public health teams (3) Support the completion of the annual Healthy Brain Initiative Summit. The Senior Specialist will manage projects from start to finish and will collaborate within the division, across the Association, and with select external partners. The position represents the Association, as directed, at events and in national partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, public policy or related field
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a nonprofit environment or in state or local government
  • Public health knowledge and experience with preference to experience in Alzheimer’s, Dementia and/or healthy aging
  • Project Management principles
  • Health communications
  • Training and organizational development
  • Track record of effective project management
  • Superior written and oral communications skills
  • Must be a team player with demonstrated ability in customer service and interpersonal relations
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to professionally handle periods of high work volume or tight deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that is execution-oriented
  • Microsoft office suite, Google workspace, Adobe suite, Luminate or another email service provider
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Public Health portfolio communications, including messaging, graphic design, product updates, social media, and exhibits
  • Coordinate and plan communications with other public health teams
  • Maintain and update relevant website and intranet information        
  • Draft and conduct editorial review of team products and communications            
  • Assist with processing grant documentation, invoices, and contracts along with preparing expense reports
  • Collect, enter, and update data for operational plans, communications metrics, evaluation and performance management, and other data for team review
  • Present on behalf of the department at national conferences and at meetings and represent the Association in select external partnerships
  • Assure that reporting stays updated for all projects listed above
  • Responsible for drafting, managing review and publishing the monthly public health newsletter.
  • Perform other duties assigned
