As a Senior Procurement Specialist – Plastics, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing Abbott’s global plastics category strategy. In this role, you’ll lead sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management while driving innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence across multiple sites. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure procurement strategies align with business goals and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain, preferably within plastics or packaging.
  • Strong supplier negotiation, contracting, and relationship‑management skills.
  • Experience with AI tools, digital procurement platforms, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, Access, and data analytics tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from ISM or APICS.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience.
  • Project management experience; PMP certification or training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the plastics category strategy across North America and global locations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers; lead RFIs, RFPs, and fact‑based negotiations.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for plastic materials and components.
  • Monitor resin pricing, market trends, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Drive cost‑saving initiatives, value engineering efforts, and cash flow improvements.
  • Partner with engineering and operations to align specifications with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
  • Improve supplier performance, mitigate supply chain risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to enable seamless procurement operations.
  • Support contract development, statements of work, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead complex procurement projects and maintain deep category knowledge and market intelligence.
  • Assist with financial planning, LBE projections, and related analytics.
