About The Position

Administer and provide technical guidance for the Corrosion Control program for assigned field locations. Troubleshoot and provide design recommendations for cathodic protection and protective coating systems. Essential Functions: Performs advanced Troubleshooting of Cathodic protection systems. Performs ECDA survey work and advanced inspection of critical infrastructure pipelines. Assists other technicians with troubleshooting cathodic protection systems. Performs advanced coating inspection and provides guidance and oversight to contractors and company employees during the application of protective coatings. Reviews technical data and information from maintenance and construction activities to ensure that corrosion protection programs remain effective. Collaborates with Planning & Scheduling to ensure permitting and on-call needs are met. Performs field corrosion compliance work as assigned. Prioritizes work with corrosion control contractors and technicians. Assists Corrosion Technicians in the testing and field evaluation of new equipment/technologies. Ensures database is maintained by reviewing corrosion reports and verifying accuracy of corrosion maps. Trains personnel in various aspects of corrosion control functions. Analyzes historical inspections, maintenance, test and operational records to establish appropriate corrective action regarding cathodic protection and coating systems. Recommends updates to scheduled/mandated corrosion control maintenance activities. Designs cathodic protection systems and direct company employees and/or contract crews in their installations. Ensures that facility database is maintained through work management systems and verifying accuracy. Provides corrosion control expertise to Capital Construction and various departments within the Company. Inspects and directs contractor and company crews while performing corrosion control work as needed.

  • Proficient at maintenance and calibration of corrosion detection instruments
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Three (3) or more years of gas utility corrosion control experience is required.
  • Knowledge of corrosion and policies/procedures and applicable federal, state and local regulations is required.
  • Must have experience with cathodic protection troubleshooting, understanding of CP design fundamentals, and evaluation of system performance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles.
  • NACE certification, preferably at the Technician level, is required within 24 months in this job.
