Job Summary Normally works alone but may direct a small crew as per the collective bargaining unit and takes part in corrosion work involving installing and maintaining gas distribution systems. What you will do Engage in cathodic protection for installing and maintaining gas mains and services, prospecting for corrosion shorts, maintaining and operating rectifiers and rectifier systems, installing insulating devices, maintaining system valves and odorizers. May receive temporary foreman and/or subforeman upgrade when doing corrosion work with a crew as appropriate, per the collective bargaining agreement. Investigates the quality of cathodic protection and initiating corrective action. Coordinates work for most efficient use of personnel and equipment. Takes part in installing and removing gas meters and regulators and valves as required, taking tests of pressures and odor levels, investigating and repairing leaks, operating and maintaining tools and equipment. Assists in planning and coordinating the physical and clerical work involved with corrosion and leak protection on our gas and water systems. Observes system and plant gauges and charts and makes necessary adjustments to equipment as required, makes routine tests as directed. Responsible for proper record keeping and makes reports as required. Contacts customers or property owners regarding work to be done, plant outages, etc. Assists in proper training of assigned employees and general personnel, and other bargaining unit personnel engaged in corrosion work, etc. Performs all work according to established company procedures and safety practices. Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a NACE corrosion training program
  • Requires Class A commercial driver's license
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
  • This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA (Part 382) and PHMSA (Part 199) regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations and company policies pertaining to gas distribution work
  • Knowledge of advance cathodic protection and leak detection.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Keen sense of responsibility to both customers’ and company's property.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
