The Senior Specialist, Contracting Strategy & Operations reports to the Director, Contracting Strategy & Contract Operations Lead and lead the end-to-end contracting and business process operations in support of assigned teams in the Scientific Affairs (SA) and US Medical Affairs (MAF) teams. The scope includes but is not limited to Real World Value & Evidence research, advisory boards, sponsorships, steering committees, and HCP consulting agreements. This role is important for helping to ensure compliance with company and departmental policies and processes, primarily related to contracting/procurement and Health Care Compliance review. The individual will work collaboratively both within the SA team and with other North America and Enterprise functions to support new business processes alongside various stakeholders, including Source 2 Contract (Procurement/Contracting), Health Care Compliance (HCC), Legal, IT, and Finance. To achieve results, this role involves working with functional and Enterprise stakeholders. The ideal candidate shows a willingness to learn and has some experience in addressing business challenges and opportunities that can impact the organization. He/she/they should understand operational effectiveness and possess good organizational skills, along with the ability to work well with others across different teams. Finally, the ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where each day presents new tasks and opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of project management and process development experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare compliance environment.
  • Strong planning and tracking skills, capable of managing multiple projects, with excellent time management regarding priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for bridging between scientific and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office Suite applications.
  • Up to 10% travel – Domestic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead communication between Medical and Scientific Affairs project owners through various review processes, such as HCC review, Contracting Pricing Committee process, and Fair Market Value (FMV).
  • Participate in operational process improvements to enhance turnaround time and efficiency in support of research and business goals.
  • Engage with critical stakeholders, including Contracting, HCC, Supplier Management, and Legal, to support project objectives.
  • Coordinate the gathering of required information from Study/Project leads.
  • Create Totality transactions and collect appropriate compliance documentation required for Totality transactions (gathering CVs and processing of FMV calculator for HCP payments, uploading project details and final project proposals in the system, reassigning transaction ownership, and monitoring transactions for approval).
  • Provide guidance to Study/Project Leads on company and departmental policies and processes.
  • Act as a resource for scientific and medical staff to troubleshoot and solve issues in the above areas and assist in the maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Execute all operational elements in the end-to-end contract process for defined Therapeutic and/or Business Areas.
  • Maintain the required information from the Study/Project Leads in the Business Process Request tool for key projects to support project/resource tracking.
