The National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community (IC) and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Senior Director and National Intelligence Officer for Space oversees and integrates all aspects of the Intelligence Community's (IC) collection and analytic efforts for Space. The Senior Director develops a Unifying Intelligence Strategy (UIS) to communicate and synchronize the Space Intelligence Community and manages the Space Threat Assessment Cell (STAC). STAC is a community resource applying foundational intelligence, technical expertise, and collaborative partnerships to frame the future space environment. Aerospace is looking for a Senior Space Threat Assessment Leader ( Senior Project Leader - Resiliency Systems Engineering) role. This position will lead Aerospace’s impacts to space mission resiliency through development and execution of strategic efforts in concert with the IC and other mission partners. This is a full-time position based in Tysons Corner, VA and Reston, VA , which requires 100% onsite work with the possibility of some assignments at the Aerospace Chantilly Campus.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in applicable STEM areas or other relevant disciplines.
• 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and applicable experience in engineering, analysis, or other technical roles.
• Significant experience in engineering and intelligence analysis, covering counterspace threats, foreign perceptions analysis, multi-domain threats to space systems, space system design, etc.
• Successfully demonstrated project management skills (e.g., effective communication, organization, team building, time and resource tracking, risk/issue management, people management and interpersonal skills, relevant knowledge).
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, government customers, Aerospace program offices, and engineering staff.
• A history of developing and maintaining professional communities of interest for important technical and policy topics.
• Demonstrate a motivated, positive, and success driven approach to tackle fast-pace and dynamic challenges.
• Have a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance with polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government.
• U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant disciplines.
• Experience supporting a space-related program office and facilitating reach back to obtain and coordinate technical support from the Aerospace Engineering & Technology Group and other Aerospace Program Offices.
• Experience with intelligence analysis including a demonstrated ability to analyze a wide variety of data and the skills to write clear and concise intelligence products.
• Understanding of the national security space environment including people, organizations, infrastructure, and capabilities.
• Previous involvement with lab-based experimentation, operational test assessments, and/or prototype development to demonstrate new capabilities and validate pathfinder performance.
• Experience overseeing budget execution, using tools to track cost and schedule metrics for multiple projects running in parallel, to ensure various customer delivery milestones are met.
• Five or more years of direct experience within the IC or DoD, especially in the areas of space operations, space threats, and/or counterspace intelligence analysis and reporting.
• Skill in conducting unbiased complex research, identifying appropriate classified systems/data sources, and leveraging intelligence community capabilities in support of customers.
• Strong organizational and communication skills (e.g., effective written and verbal communication, organization, time and resource management, interpersonal skills, etc.).
• Significant experience in engineering or analysis of space/ground systems and architecture assessments, advanced sensors, end-to-end systems, cyber, communications systems, or engineering requirements.
• Demonstrated strategic thinker with the ability to think ahead and anticipate potential problems or identify patterns and make meaning out of overarching trends.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, lead and manage several, simultaneous high-performing and fast-paced teams of Aerospace subject matter experts in multiple disciplines to deliver strategic analysis and study results for senior customers.
• Provide direct support to senior government leaders in assessing the strategic implications for a broad range of emerging technologies, characterizing potential impacts to future architecture.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive awareness and understanding of current and developing threats to U.S. national security space architecture and commercial systems.
• Build and maintain relationships with other intelligence-community and national security space organizations, facilitate the exchange of information and analysis, and perform research tasks to address future counterspace threats with effective assessments & recommendations.
• Collaborate with Aerospace Project West Wing and the Engineering & Technology Group to proactively meet customer requirements with comprehensive technical expertise and the application of analytical tools.
• Lead engagement with stakeholders across Aerospace and other IC elements, including community workshops, reviews, etc.
• Leverage expertise in threat assessments, technological advancements, mission and capability requirements, and IC or DoD space systems to improve executive decision making and intelligence support to space acquisitions.
• Reach-back to Aerospace space acquisition programs, systems engineers, designers, architects, and other subject matter experts to form cross-functional, high-performing teams.
