Senior Solutions Engineer - (Western US) The Role: We're hiring a Senior Solutions Engineer to own technical sales for our Western Commercial segment. You'll partner with Account Executives across Western US territories - running discovery, driving technical wins, and closing deals. This isn't a demo jockey role. You own the technical outcome. The right person has real data protection experience, knows what it's like to be the customer, and can run a deal without handholding. You'll push back on bad-fit opportunities, manage POC scope, and be the technical authority your reps lean on.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in technical pre-sales (Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales Engineer)
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing IT role (sysadmin, infrastructure, operations) or at a partner/MSP - you've been on the other side of the table
  • Data protection platform experience - Rubrik, Veeam, or Commvault
  • VMware expertise - vSphere, vCenter, this is most of your customer base
  • Microsoft enterprise applications - SQL Server, M365, Windows Server environments
  • Track record of running technical sales cycles independently
  • Travel up to 25%

Nice To Haves

  • Nutanix expertise - AHV, Prism, HCI environments
  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Hyper-V / Azure Local environments
  • Partner or MSP experience

Responsibilities

  • Own technical sales cycles from discovery through close
  • Run demos and POCs that map to customer problems - not feature tours
  • Drive competitive displacements and rescue deals
  • Manage POC scope and customer expectations - document commitments, hold boundaries
  • Partner with channel SEs on joint opportunities
  • Build technical relationships that create repeat business
