About The Position

This Senior Solar Analyst/Solar Analyst position supports the Solar 4 All® (S4A) program Operations team. This position is responsible for conducting effective ongoing operations for 158 MW-dc of utility-owned solar projects. Responsible for ensuring critical S4A tasks are completed and in compliance of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) order. Responsibilities include: conducting PJM energy sales, Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) management, auctions, and transfers, capacity bidding, insurance management for solar plants, management of rent payments, repowering existing solar and energy storage facilities, oversight of solar and energy storage operations utilizing existing monitoring platforms, and completion of several key FERC, NJBPU and NJ Clean Energy Program reporting requirements. Must be able to work independently and creatively on special projects. Coordinate and communicate with PJM, New Jersey Clean Energy Program, BPU, S4A lease counterparties, and other stakeholders. Develop and implement program procedures/processes, train team associates and contractor support personnel, work with other PSE&G departments, and provide recommendations to senior management regarding Solar 4 All portfolio as needed. The candidate must be able to lead/supervise other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, business or finance, or MBA/other relevant advanced degree.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in finance and /or analytical role.
  • Repowering solar facilities.
  • Familiarity with solar equipment including inverters, combiner boxes, medium-voltage equipment, racking structures, and wire management systems.
  • Familiarity with PSE&G Solar 4 All program.
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Experience in the solar and/or battery energy storage industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in engineering, business, and/or solar related field.
  • Proficiency in PJM energy-related markets and activities.
  • Experience with PSE&G interconnection process for solar generators.
  • Experience with NJ Clean Energy Program SREC registration process.
  • In-depth knowledge of solar facility operations, designs, and equipment.
  • Experience with solar.
  • Experience with solar facility operations and maintenance.
  • Working with NREL’s PVWatts solar generation estimating tool.

Responsibilities

  • PJM Energy Sales Market Participation (Day Ahead / Real Time) including forecasting expected solar generation and development and submittal of daily generation production schedules and recommending changes to internal processes.
  • PJM RPM capacity market Participation including development and submittal of capacity bidding schedules inclusive of providing proposed plans for future auctions.
  • PJM GATs SREC markets including management of monthly SREC issuance from PJM GATS, managing SREC auction results activities including coordination with other PSE&G groups such as Basic Generation Service group, SREC disbursement, and providing monthly status reports to PSE&G accounting.
  • Maintain Solar 4 All Lease agreement ongoing operation inclusive of coordination with PSE&G Accounts Payable group for monthly payment issuance, developing process enhancements and addressing issues related to solar lease agreements with third party owners.
  • Draft and Issue for publication multiple reports for the Solar 4 All program including status reports to NJBPU, NJCEP, and provide recommendations to PSE&G senior management.
  • Special projects involving process improvement, partnering with other departments, training contractors, and development of program procedures and process documentation.
