About The Position

The PENTA Building Group is searching for a Senior Safety Manager to join our team in Los Angeles County and Orange County, CA ! The Senior Safety Manager is accountable for overseeing the management and coordination of safety practices and procedures on large commercial construction projects to deliver high quality projects that are on time, on budget and beyond client expectations. This individual will manage a team of safety professionals and work hand in hand daily with Project Superintendents, promoting a culture of safety and addressing site-specific safety concerns. At PENTA, a Senior Safety Manager is responsible for: Promoting and maintaining a company-wide culture of health and safety. Assisting in the planning and conducting of training for project personnel and is responsible for the safety and health in the areas of policy, procedures, inspections, regulatory compliance, and incident investigation. Preparation of a comprehensive Job-Site Specific Safety Plan for each assigned project. Conducting the initial safety orientation training for all new field employees and subcontractors. May assist the Executive Director of Safety and Quality Assurance/Quality Control or Regional Safety Director on moderately complex technical work in a wide range of safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with health and safety standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements. Maintaining current knowledge of specific government agency requirements. Exhibiting knowledge and applying the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of health and safety. Determining and developing approaches to solutions. Monitoring and preventing hazards and illnesses in the work area. Investigating accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. Recommending improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards. May act as a lead role for a team of Safety Managers. May perform other duties not listed here as assigned and noted in our Corporate Safety Handbook.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Safety Manager for commercial a General Contractor on fast-paced, high-rise construction projects.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing team of safety professionals.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing multi-employer worksite.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • Ability to travel between multiple projects spanning our Southern California region (Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County).
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Construction processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information or conditions.
  • Experience with follow-up and monitoring of work to ensure quality standards and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and team player mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or in Occupational Safety and Health is preferred.
