About The Position

The Senior Resource Development Engineer collaborates with all other disciplines (e.g. geologists, landmen, and production engineers) to optimize resource development on Continental’s Permian Basin assets. This role involves performance analysis, strategic planning, A&D evaluation, and reservoir characterization to maximize economic value and recovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer and data analysis skills.
  • Good working knowledge of industry software including ARIES, ComboCurve, and Whitson.
  • Ability to use decline curve analysis to forecast reserve recoveries from reservoirs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in ARIES software and economic analysis.
  • Proficient in Spotfire and other data visualization/analysis tools.
  • Experience with Unconventional Permian Basin assets.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts decline curve analysis to generate short and long-term production forecasts to support budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
  • Designs and optimizes well spacing, completions strategies, and field development plans to enhance recovery, maximize economics, and minimize costs.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on potential acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Develops and maintains type curves and economic analyses for various AOIs.
  • Progresses well approvals from concept through executive approval.
  • Communicates trade-offs clearly.
  • Collaborates with the Reservoir Solutions team to incorporate reservoir simulations, PVT, RTA, and other diagnostic tools into asset level reservoir characterization.
  • Continually progresses the asset’s reserves strategy throughout the year.
  • Other duties as assigned.
