About The Position

As an R&D Technician on the Triton Robotics Hardware Team you will join a talented team of engineers and designers tasked with developing robotic solutions to solve complicated medical challenges. In this unique role, you will wear a multitude of hats and take on responsibilities across the system from test and fixture design, electrical cabling, prototyping, and lab maintenance. You’ll work closely with engineers to build prototype systems and test bench setups based upon draft MPIs and BOMs, ensuring accurate documentation through DHRs. You’ll own some system components, ensuring released drawings adhere to documentation standards. You’ll also assist with implementation of test fixtures and processes to ensure prototypes and products meet performance and safety standards before use. The ideal candidate will act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and will display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. Requirements

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 6-8 years’ experience as an R&D technician.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate in English orally and via writing.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a given set of priorities.
  • Ability to write simple process instructions including detailed steps and images.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement simple fixtures for assembly and test of systems.
  • Proven experience using a variety of hand tools, cabling & crimping tools and demonstrated experience performing basic to technical PCA/PCB rework.
  • Familiarity with 3D printers, understanding materials, material selection, and printer maintenance.
  • Employee may be required to lift objects up to 60 pounds.

  • Experience with medical device design and manufacturing.

  • Experience operating machine tools (manual mill/lathe)
  • Basic familiarity with Solidworks, Altium, and other 3D CAD software

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers and others to assemble functional prototypes of novel robotic systems and provide valuable feedback on the design and assembly process to the team.
  • Creation and implementation of fixtures for on-line and end-of-line testing and verification.
  • Development, assembly, and release of cabling systems including shielded cable bundles, stranded wire, flat-flex and high-speed differential cables.
  • Work with external vendors to have custom cables produced for prototyping needs.
  • Assembly and rework of mechanical assemblies including actuators, ball screws, linear rails, structural assemblies.
  • Assembly and test of integrated electrical systems including wiring, test, debug.
  • Rework of electrical PCAs including minor soldering/blue wire changes.
  • Run the Capital/Systems R&D lab including maintenance and care for 3D printers, prototype inventory, and tooling.
