About The Position

Senior Quality Engineer- Defense Electronics- Onsite Position We are growing and have an opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer based on-site at our Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions Santa Clarita, CA You will be responsible for leading Program Quality Engineering that supports the Quality Systems in our Integrated Solutions business unit. You will drive continual improvement of the AS9100 certified Quality System to manage program quality requirements, minimize cost of quality while maximizing customer satisfaction through the delivery of on-time, high quality, highly reliable product. A background in electronics manufacturing, electrical design and experience with IPC 610 Class 3 requirements in aerospace and defense program support are considered significant weighted preferred experience for this role. You will have strong communications skills as well as having the ability to engage across all levels of the organization in building effective relationships. This position will interact with our customers. Executes AS9100/Program Compliance Activities via internal audits, source inspections and contract deliverables. Assist with external (AS9100, NADCAP, FAA and DCMA (US Gov.)) audits as well as Aerospace, and Prime Defense Customers) to keep the programs on track and resolve problems real time. Your Challenge: Supports the sites various certifications AS9100 and executes assigned Program Quality Engineering Drives the CAPA RCAA process through the organization, including implementation/improvement to tools, training, and metrics Manages the assigned Program Customer Quality process, ensuring quick response and effective corrective actions on customer raised SCARS, audit findings and feedback obtained through the Customer Service Index (CSI) process Supports the planning and execution of the internal audit plans designed to ensure sustained compliance to AS9100, and customer or program requirements Interact with Program Managers, Supply Chain, Operations, Contracts and other Engineering disciplines to ensure compliance to program quality requirements and resolve Customer and Product Line nonconformances as required Supports the FRB/MRB FRACAS process in an efficient and effective manner to keep material flowing aging/inventory values and drives reductions in product defects through continuous improvement Performs root cause analysis (8D,5 Whys) of identified program manufacturing issues and identify appropriate corrective and preventive action Leverages a strong foundation in Lean & Six Sigma methodology to support continual process improvement and product yield investigations in support of improving customer satisfaction Provides QA support on the implementation of Engineering Change Orders, Program Instructions, Waivers and Material Substitution Requests Represents C5ISR Quality at monthly & quarterly Business, Operations & program quality Reviews Supports quality in the product life cycle (Proposal, Design, Production, Services and Sustainment Performs COPQ Data Extraction / Analysis /Compilation and improvements Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions for customer found issues Supports ESD, FOD & 5S Management programs as required Ad-Hoc Travel will be required to visit program needed support at customer sites or in the field, or to carry out audits and meet periodically to discuss quality plans face-to-face at other C5ISR sites within the division What you Bring: Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical/Software Engineering or technical equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience or Graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience In lieu of a degree, candidates may be considered with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience within the aerospace and defense industry or military experience commensurate in with the position responsibilities, skills and experience required Experience with the implementation and maintenance of a registered AS9100 QMS applied to both manufacturing and product development – preferably within aerospace & defense programs Approachable hands-on style with the ability to engage with people at all levels of management Excellent English Language written and oral communication skills; composing written reports and other communications is required Superior analytical skills, capable of using current computer analysis tools (Microsoft Office, Outlook plus others applicable programs) Encourages high level collaboration of cross-functional teams Knowledgeable in the interpretation and application of the following standards: J-STD-001, IPC- A-600, IPC-A-610 , IPC/WHMA-A-620, or IPC-7711/7721 8D or other structured problem-solving methodology expertise ASQ CMQOE and/or ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt is considered a plus AS9100 Lead Auditor certification is considered a plus Experience interfacing directly with major customers on Quality issues ESD and FOD Control Requirements Knowledge of tooling Calibration program management, recalls, calibration schedules and asset maintenance Experience with SAP S4 Hana and MES applications is an asset Knowledge and use of SQL, Python and or PowerBi dashboard developments is considered a plus Strong interpersonal and communication skills High degree of Product Integrity and Ethical standards Who We Are: Our Values Environmental, Social and Governance The Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions facility in Santa Clarita, California is the center of excellence for hardware level system integration and advanced package design. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical/Software Engineering or technical equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience or Graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, candidates may be considered with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience within the aerospace and defense industry or military experience commensurate in with the position responsibilities, skills and experience required
