About The Position

The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist/Engineer serves as a key leader in maintaining and continuously improving the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role is responsible for the development, control, revision, and governance of quality procedures, process documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, industry, and customer expectations. Additionally, the role provides guidance regarding compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, including ASME Section III, and may interact with the AIA, Code committees and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate excels in QMS oversight, procedure management, process optimization, and cross‑functional collaboration within highly regulated environments.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship (required for access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 15+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Alternatively, candidates with 19+ or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Extensive experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Management Systems, and procedure governance within nuclear, engineering, or highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, quality standards, and document control practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex documentation systems, lead process improvements, and influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Training or certifications such as NQA-1 Auditor/Lead Auditor, CQA, CQE, CQM, Six Sigma, Causal Analysis, etc.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex processes and maintain high‑quality documentation.
  • Experience working to and performing quality assurance activities under NQA-1, ASME III, and/or ISO 9001, quality management systems.
  • Developing processes and procedures to implement nuclear quality assurance requirements such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME III, NCA, 10 CFR 830, and/or DOE 414.
  • Experience working with the ASME III Code and AIA in support of ASME III certification/recertification.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor and guide others.
  • Deep understanding of nuclear safety culture, human performance principles, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic environments and manage competing priorities with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, oversee, and continuously improve the organization’s Quality Management System to ensure alignment with applicable regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NQA‑1, ASME III, ISO 9001, 10 CFR requirements).
  • Develops, evaluates, and maintains the quality assurance program processes including instructions, procedures, process documents, and requirement/guidance documents for implementation of the quality assurance program.
  • Conduct QMS gap analyses, due diligence reviews, and integration planning during organizational changes, mergers, or acquisitions.
  • Ensures quality requirements are clearly defined, controlled, and traceable across applicable processes and documentation.
  • Define, develop, and implement standardized processes and documentation to support consistent execution of quality activities across the organization.
  • Evaluate existing procedures for clarity, effectiveness, and compliance, lead simplification and optimization initiatives.
  • Participates in industry initiatives to develop and maintain knowledge of quality assurance functions as they relate to program trends, NRC concerns, and technological developments.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage quality requirements traceability matrices to ensure regulatory, customer, and program requirements are accurately captured, linked, and verified across applicable procedures and processes.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, licensing, and project teams to ensure requirements are fully integrated into controlled documents and remain current throughout the lifecycle of the QMS.
  • Monitor changes in regulations, codes, and standards and update traceability matrices to maintain alignment and compliance.
  • Supports supplier qualification and implementation audits, surveillances, internal quality assurance audits, surveillances, and assessments to verify compliance with QMS and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead quality improvement projects aimed at streamlining processes, reducing inefficiencies, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to monitor program health and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Corrective Action Program by ensuring procedural alignment, documentation accuracy, and effective implementation of improvements.
  • Prepare audit documentation, responses, and objective evidence to support findings closure and program compliance.
  • Support ASME survey activities and licensing evaluations related to quality program requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, licensing, and management teams to ensure alignment of quality expectations and procedural compliance.
  • Lead or support multidisciplinary teams in the deployment of quality software tools, electronic document systems, and process automation solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal departments and external partners on QMS, procedure governance, and requirements traceability.
