About The Position

The Senior Protein Specialist - Procurement leads the sourcing, relationship management, and strategic execution of protein category initiatives. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong vendor partnerships, optimizing product availability, and meeting the sales organization’s product needs in an on-call and on-demand capacity. As a key contributor to our supply chain, this person drives efficiency and growth while ensuring that all procurement aligns with our company’s mission and standards. This role involves independently managing a large book of business and continuously prospecting to generate accounts with program-level or recurring business regularly. They must be responsive and highly skilled at managing fast-paced and complex transactions. The Senior Protein Specialist works closely with various teams, displaying confidence, leadership, and critical thinking skills. This position reports to the MFC Sales Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain high-value vendor relationships, resulting in improved reliability and quality of supply
  • Increased vendor-side margin through strategic negotiation and sourcing
  • Consistent availability of key products to meet sales demand and customer expectations
  • Accurate and timely market insights shared across departments to support agile decision-making
  • Procurement processes documented, improved, and standardized to support growth at scale
  • Internal teams (sales, logistics, finance) feel supported and aligned through clear communication and collaborative planning
  • Own category procurement across programmatic and spot purchases
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard high-value protein vendors
  • Manage vendor communications and negotiate product, pricing, and terms
  • Support inventory planning and pricing strategies in partnership with sales and finance teams
  • Monitor market conditions and commodity trends to inform procurement decisions
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with processors and packers
  • Coordinate with vendor partners to ensure consistent product quality and availability.
  • Lead the execution of vendor-facing campaigns and communication.s
  • Align closely with Sales, Logistics, and Finance to ensure that customer needs are fulfilled.
  • Participate in weekly procurement meetings and cross-functional planning sessions.
  • Educate internal teams on specs, market updates, and sourcing opportunities.
  • Provide insights that help translate procurement activity into sales enablement.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and procurement data in CRM and internal systems
  • Help evolve procurement SOPs and workflows for scale
  • Ensure all purchases meet company standards for quality, traceability, and ethics
