As a Senior Protection Technical Training Instructor, a typical day might include the following: Provide, create, teach, follow, and maintain technical training for protective relay systems based on pre-established and newly developed protection standards, processes, and procedures or best practices in both a simulated and real-world environment. Contribute as a technical expert in protection relay application and theory, train individuals on standards and best practices related to protection design, relay protection theory, creation of system models, coordination of relay setpoints, relay testing, communication-based protection including IEC-61850, analyzing system faults, and troubleshoot failures to prevent damage to power system equipment. Develop new technical processes and procedures with emphasis on protection relaying and new technologies. Responsible for overseeing, mentoring, and teaching safe work practices with focus on risk aversion and implementing/teaching human performance improvement and error reduction tools. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
