Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices. In the role of Senior Project Manager/Marine Biologist, we'll count on you to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • A license/certification
  • PMP certification
  • 15 years' related experience
  • Experience conducting marine environmental studies in the Pacific Region
  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense project management, data archiving, and contracting requirements
  • An understanding of underwater acoustic data collection methods including data analysis and interpretation

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization within marine biological sciences that resolves problems of great scope and complexity
  • Plan, develop, and implement projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company and client programs as needed
  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidisciplinary projects in nearshore and deep ocean environments with high degree of technical complexity
  • Plan, organize and supervise work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Actively support Program Management and Business Development initiatives
  • Assume leadership responsibilities for managing multidisciplinary projects with a high degree of technical complexity and non-technical intricacies
  • Advise clients on the technical, regulatory, financial, and community facets of marine environmental monitoring and mitigation programs, which are all critical to project success. Leverage lessons learned from other projects and programs and industry best management practices to address each client’s specific needs
  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of project execution
  • Anticipate and identify potential issues and risks that may impact project implementation, and assist clients with problem-solving, issues resolution, risk mitigation, and timely decision-making. Provide strategic advice and thought leadership and deploy the required resources to address various project and program challenges and unanticipated events
  • Develop and implement various plans (project and program management plans, startup plans, and work plans), business processes, and tools to drive efficiencies, emphasize accountability, bring team alignment, and promote transparency
  • Direct the services provided by project teams comprised of HDR and subconsultants staff. Promote alignment within the team through effective and regular communication. Secure the resources required to deliver services specified in the contract scope with a focus on contract compliance. Monitor team performance and establish a robust QA/QC program to meet client expectations
  • Monitor project financial performance against pre-established financial metrics and adjust as necessary to meet earnings and profitability targets and control losses.
  • Contribute to the growth of HDR’s project and program management services by (1) building a long-term trusted advisory relationship with clients; (2) looking for opportunities to expand our services to address the needs of existing clients; (3) supporting the pursuit of new project opportunities; and (4) mentoring and training staff
  • Perform other duties as needed
