About The Position

Under general direction of the Director of Administrative Services, the Senior Project Manager plans, manages, and implements agency-wide projects in support of Administrative Services. The Senior Project Manager manages the scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects; develops and implements workplans and tools; leads cross-functional collaboration; and coordinates with departments, consultants, and external partners to achieve project objectives. This role requires a strategic, customer-focused approach to program delivery and change management within a dynamic, matrixed environment. This is a term-limited position of 5 years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience performing project management, implementation, research, analysis, and/or administrative support for planning, public policy, transportation, or related programs; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Principles, practices, and techniques of project and program management.
  • Methods and tools for developing, tracking, and reporting project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Experience managing projects in a matrixed organization and coordinating across multiple divisions or disciplines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Skill in contract management, consultant oversight, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present information clearly to executives, stakeholders, and diverse audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, implementation, and completion of assigned projects and programs in alignment with Administrative Services and agency goals.
  • Develops, manages, and continuously improves processes, programs, and tools that support efficient operations of the Administrative Services Division.
  • Manages project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining quality.
  • Coordinates across divisions, departments, and external partners to ensure alignment, resolve issues, and support timely decision-making.
  • Serves as a resource of support and guidance for project managers and program leads agency-wide.
  • Leads consultant procurement and contract management activities, including development of scopes of work and oversight of consultant deliverables.
  • Oversees workspace planning and implementation projects that enhance collaboration and employee experience at the core campus and related facilities.
  • Conducts assessments and gap analyses of agency programs and practices to inform recommendations and implementation strategies.
  • Provides leadership for process improvement and change management initiatives within the Administrative Services Division.
  • Prepares and presents reports, summaries, presentations, and briefings for executive audiences.
  • Manages competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously with a detail-oriented, organized approach.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit’s core values and demonstrate values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.
