About Health-Related Social Needs & Health Care Partnerships As a partner in MassHealth's Health-Related Social Needs program, Project Bread is treating food insecurity through the healthcare system to improve long-term patient health outcomes. This revolutionary program allows Medicaid dollars to be used on “non-medical” expenses to address two social determinants of health — food insecurity and housing stability. One of the only kinds in the nation, Project Bread’s Health Care Partnerships (HCP) goes beyond prescriptions for food by offering comprehensive case management to certain eligible MassHealth patients who are both food insecure and have a physical or behavioral health diagnosis. Supervisor : Vice President of Health Care Partnerships Starting Salary Range : $72,000 - $76,000 The Role: The Senior Program Manager is the operational backbone of the Health Care Partnerships (HCP) program, ensuring program members reliably receive food benefits, cooking classes, counseling/ nutrition education and kitchen supplies to support their health. This role manages the staff, systems, and vendor relationships that make our program delivery possible, and works closely with the Director and Vice President to strengthen program infrastructure. The ideal candidate is systems-minded, loves problem solving, and is energized by helping implement a high-impact program. They bring strong experience supervising a team and managing vendor relationships. They work fluently in Excel and Salesforce and can pick up new technologies quickly and confidently as program needs evolve. This role is for someone who finds meaning in building the behind-the-scenes operations that allows a mission-driven program to deliver on its promises to the people it serves.

Requirements

  • Project management : Able to think broadly about big picture goals and to translate those goals into actionable tasks. Able to delegate and oversee the implementation of those tasks.
  • People management: Able to support a team of early career professionals. Help them set growth goals and provide a continuous cycle of feedback to help them achieve those goals.
  • Technological acumen: Able to perform complex tasks in Excel and Salesforce. Able to self-teach new technologies, quickly adapt their usage, and teach others how to use them.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented : Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Notices and fixes errors that others might overlook. Holds a high bar even when things are hectic.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet different learning styles, without sacrificing nuance
  • Flexibility to pivot priorities in a short time period
  • Experience with programs that support low-income, or other vulnerable, populations
  • 5+ years of professional experience in nonprofit, government, or social service organizations

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, or Haitian Creole is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Vendor Management & Benefit Implementation Manage relationships with external vendors used for program member benefits and communication, such as Amazon, Home Depot, Blackthorn, and IQPay. Ensure $6M+ annual food card contract is accurately implemented, overseeing member enrollment and regular vendor communication. Facilitate the development of new vendor partnerships and program needs evolve.
  • Program Data, Systems, & Reporting In partnership with the Director and Vice President, maintain Salesforce as a reliable tool for member contacts and service tracking. Oversee operations for monthly virtual nutrition education classes, ensuring seamless technology and accurate reporting. Support with the maintenance and reporting of accurate program data and impact. Manage the creation of timely and accurate invoices.
  • Team Leadership Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Program Associates that coordinate delivery of goods and services and provide daily customer support to clients. Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and care among direct reports. Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives that advance program quality and organizational goals
  • Organizational Responsibilities : Participate in the annual Walk for Hunger, including working as event staff the weekend of the Walk (first weekend in May), and attending pre-Walk events as assigned. Participate in organization-wide events and meetings. Act to promote, sustain, and grow Project Bread’s positive, productive, and inclusive working environment.
