As the Undergraduate Senior Program Coordinator, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team that supports students from diverse backgrounds as they pursue careers in environmental science and policy, climate studies, and marine science and conservation. You’ll work closely with students, faculty, and staff across Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment (NSOE) in Durham and Beaufort, supporting undergraduate programs in Environmental Science/Environmental Science and Policy (ENV), Earth & Climate Sciences (ECS), and the Marine Science and Conservation (MARSCI) major. Your role will be central to fostering student success, provide administrative support to faculty, and ensuring the smooth operation of academic and engagement programs, and involves periodic early morning, evening, and weekend hours, as well as occasional travel to the Duke University Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC.   Please include a cover letter when submitting your application.   Be Bold.  

Requirements

  • Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
  • Work requires three years of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
  • OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working with students, faculty, or higher education experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in use of spreadsheets
  • Ability to work in a team setting, and independent work
  • Event planning and implementation experience. Occasional heavy lifting.
  • Familiarity with DukeHub, Stellic, Concur is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Guide students through degree completion by communicating academic and co-curricular requirements, course offerings, and key milestones.
  • Facilitate effective academic advising by coordinating advisor assignments, maintaining resources, and supporting student-faculty interactions.
  • Manage graduation pathways including Graduation with Distinction (GWD) and capstone experiences.
  • Oversee graduation clearance and coordinate with university stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processes.
  • Support continuous program assessment through data collection, survey administration, and participation in advisory committees.
  • Serve as liaison for marine science & conservation majors and faculty at the Duke Marine Lab.
  • Act as the primary contact for undergraduate programs and courses.
  • Support recruitment by engaging with prospective students, participating in events, and collaborating with NSOE and Marine Lab teams.
  • Foster belonging through community-building events and communications.
  • Communicate relevant career pathways.
  • Lead planning and execution of the NSOE Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony and GWD presentation events.
  • Engage in DUS meetings, providing updates and managing communications.
  • Support the Stanback Fellowship Program in partnership with the Career and Professional Development Center.
  • Manage undergraduate program budgets, advising students on funding and overseeing allocations.
  • Maintain and communicate key data for all NSOE undergraduate programs.
