About The Position

Reuters is seeking a highly-skilled, U.S. Election Expert to join our dynamic team ahead of the 2026 elections. As an Election Expert, you will play a crucial role in the understanding, processing and ingestion of election results from across the U.S. Applicants should have experience working on prior elections and understand the details of how elections work in the United States. Candidate should have a strong grasp of voting processes, collecting and publishing vote count, as well as familiarity with data feeds, delivery and file formats: XML, JSON, APIs and other current technologies. This position does not include news reporting on or a detailed knowledge of politics, but candidate should be familiar with key election concepts such as “swing states,” “opinion polling,” “voting patterns,” “expected vote,” the importance of vote types such as, “absentee, early-vote, mail-in” within a county or state. Successful candidates should be willing to dig in and do the work, not simply manage the work. They should work well under pressure and be able to meet hard deadlines. Candidate should be comfortable working across teams, including technical development, product designers, senior managers and editorial. The successful candidate has significant growth potential to expand into coverage of countries outside the U.S. and build an elections team. About the Role As a Senior Product Manager, US Elections , you will: Research voting processes in individual counties and all 50 states and turn those into actionable requirements for processing the Vote Count. Must learn and understand the differences in how each state and county report votes on election night. Turn customer requirements into actionable application development and be familiar with requirement-gathering tools, JIRA or similar. Assist our engineers in understanding the details around the electoral process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement automated solutions for the ingestion of vote count. Work closely with editorial to build best-in-class graphics for vote count display. Design and/or provide input into testing and simulation procedures. Track project milestones against hard deadlines. Potential to manage 1-4 direct reports

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience.
  • Hybrid role based in New York or Washington D.C. Fully remote will be considered for the right candidate with monthly or quarterly travel.
