About The Position

Ocient is seeking a highly technical and strategic Senior Product Manager who will: Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for storage across Ocient’s offerings. Act as the primary Telco industry point of contact for solutions, deeply understand telecom use cases, and translate those into prioritized product priorities and enablement for internal teams. This role spans product strategy, cross-functional enablement, and industry-focused solution leadership

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of enterprise software experience with some of that time spent in product management.
  • Deep technical expertise in database internals, storage, and performance engineering.
  • Proven ability to drive product strategy and execution, balancing technical requirements with business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to enable and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of industry dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape in Telco verticals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with telecommunications workloads or enterprise Telco solutions (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Own, define, and continuously evolve the storage strategy and roadmap, aligning architecture decisions with performance, scalability, reliability, and cost objectives.
  • Partner with engineering to analyze storage system behavior, identify bottlenecks across ingest, persistence, and retrieval, and drive improvements in throughput, latency, and efficiency.
  • Establish and track storage-specific benchmarks and KPIs (e.g., durability, I/O efficiency, compression, cost per TB), validate release readiness, and clearly communicate storage design tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Telco industry solutions owner and point of contact for internal teams, partners, and customers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of telecommunications workloads, key performance and scaling requirements, and vertical-specific success criteria.
  • Lead the prioritization and refinement of the Telco solutions roadmap, balancing performance, storage, and use-case requirements with broader product goals.
  • Enable Product, Engineering, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success with Telco-specific product knowledge, competitive insights, and use-case playbooks.
  • Collaborate with Solutions Engineering and Product Marketing to create Telco-focused collateral, demos, and differentiated value messaging.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to translate customer feedback and Telco market requirements into product direction and prioritization.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Solutions Engineering to convert customer requirements into product specifications.
  • Quantify business impact of performance and Telco solutions initiatives to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Track competitive positioning and help ensure product offerings remain industry-leading in performance and Telco relevance.
