UberNew York, NY
4d$180,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Maps experience and geospatial intelligence is the backbone of all Uber offerings. It powers how people discover and navigate the world across mobility, delivery, and emerging businesses. From finding a pickup or drop off location to driving navigation, walking directions, wayfinding, and discovering restaurants, stores, and new places to go, Maps provides the location intelligence, cartography, and spatial systems that underpin every Uber experience. We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to focus on Search and Discovery. This role is responsible for designing human centered ways for people to search for locations, discover relevant places, products, and services, and explore the map with confidence across Uber's business lines.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating work on search, discovery, recommendation, browsing, or map based experiences.
  • Solid foundation in interaction design, information architecture, and systems thinking.
  • Experience designing complex, stateful systems with multiple inputs, constraints, and outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern design and prototyping workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating in cross functional teams.
  • Experience designing map based or location aware products.
  • Familiarity with cartography, spatial hierarchy, and map visualization concepts.
  • Experience working on recommendation, ranking, or relevance driven systems.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving design systems for large scale products.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and iterating toward clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Design human centered search, discovery, and recommendation experiences that help people find locations and discover relevant places, products, and services across mobility, delivery, and emerging Uber offerings.
  • Drive product roadmap and strategy decisions in close partnership with cross functional teams.
  • Translate complex geospatial data, relevance and ranking signals, and system constraints into experiences that feel clear, approachable, and trustworthy.
  • Design interactions that support exploration, refinement, and sense making within dense, information rich map environments. Apply cartographic principles to create clarity, hierarchy, and legibility across zoom levels and contexts.
  • Contribute to shared interaction patterns and design systems used across Maps.
