V2X is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis to lead development, integration, and lifecycle management of advanced systems across various platforms, with strong emphasis on technical expertise, DoD project support, and collaboration within cross-functional teams. A Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Indianapolis typically supports engineering teams by leading program development from concept through verification and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • 12+ years of experience in systems, software, or hardware engineering.
  • Strong understanding of the System Engineering Lifecycle and related processes.
  • Experience with hardware development programs, test procedure development, and system verification.
  • Supplier management and subsystem/component oversight experience.
  • Proven leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and practical experience in network architecture design, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Agile techniques (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Background working with DoD customers (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps).

Responsibilities

  • Define and guide complex system designs across the full development lifecycle on air, sea, or ground platforms.
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence
  • Coordinate with software, hardware, and integration teams to align system requirements and performance.
  • Identify risks early, manage requirements rigorously, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive technology roadmaps and contribute to long-term product and capability planning to meet program financial commitments.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between the technical team and company leadership.
  • Travel to customer sites for requirements gathering and/or product demonstration.
