Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer lead interested in ocean engineering. Our Portsmouth, RI team primarily supports programs in the naval undersea and naval surface domains, including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical expert and key leader, assisting in addressing complex challenges while ensuring the team operates effectively and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include being a team leader in overseeing technical work and ensuring project requirements are met with precision and accuracy. You will act as a team leader by reviewing work, and contributing to the development of innovative procedures, processes, and standards to enhance team performance. You will ensure systems are built, tested, and deployed seamlessly, while ensuring the team is meeting project objectives. What You Will Learn After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a team supporting Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) activities across the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Typically requires degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management Value System).
  • Experience with underwater acoustics analysis, sensor systems, or naval system development.
  • Experience with system integration, system requirements, system verification, system validation and/or system testing.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge as a subject matter expert in systems engineering or a closely related field, providing technical guidance and driving successful project outcomes.
  • Experience with identifying root causes of system failures through detailed diagnostics, implementing timely fixes to restore functionality, and develop preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics and applying optimization techniques to enhance efficiency and functionality.
  • Experience with being able to break down complex problems, analyze data effectively, and identify actionable solutions, all while maintaining a sharp focus on detail
  • Experience in juggling multiple tasks and handling shifting priorities effectively, such as meeting tight deadlines on multiple projects, responding promptly to urgent requests, and staying organized while managing a high volume of work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
