About The Position

Kimley-Horn’s community planning team is expanding and offers a rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Planner. This role is designed for a leader who will specialize in grants and district support, while also contributing to the growth of the firm's community planning and historic preservation practice. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, envisioning and driving growth for the Land Planning Services practice team, and building their own portfolio of projects, clients, and a supporting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related discipline.
  • Business development and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage & mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts, developing and managing relationships with key clients, and overseeing all project tasks while mentoring the growth of younger staff.
  • Lead a team while building and managing relationships with key clients.
  • Operate with integrity and sound business principles.
  • Provide practice vision, business planning and strategy, establishing goals, building and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Open communication with partners and team, along with growing and directing a Community Planning Services practice.
  • Manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, help recruit, and be a positive role model.
  • Meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Identifying and tracking leads.
  • Making presentations, writing proposals and scopes of work.
  • Establish budgets, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervising the execution of work.
